Welcome to the sequel to zelda 1. This game is the hardest of all of them because it includes lives, magic meter, 4 heart containers, and 4 magic containers. It also involves experience points and level ups. =( Here are the strategies and what not.
You will start at North Castle where Zelda is taking the LONGEST nap yet! The only way to wake her up is by getting the triforce of courage from the Great Palace. First we need to go through 6 other palaces. We will start with Parapa Palace. Get out of North Castle and follow the path to a lone dark green square. Go in it to find yourself 50 points and a level up on your life. Get out and follow the path to the town. The town looks like a white mansion in the middle of nowhere. This is the town of Rauru. There is a wise man here in one of the houses here. There are ladies in red dresses patrolling their houses. They restore your life. There are also old ladies in orange patrolling their houses. They restore your magic. Go to the long white house with a lady coming out of the house. Talk to her to get inside her house. You have to get in when the door is still open. Inside the house, go left all the way and head downstairs to find an old wizard in the basement. He will give you the shield spell. It will turn your tunic red and enhance your defenses. Now get out of town and go to the cave in the top left corner. The cave is dark, but don’t worry there is only one easy enemy in this place. Once you get out of the cave head to the bottom right corner to a place where there is a light green square surrounded by forest. There is a heart container there. Get it and go back to the pink deserty area. The palace is in the top right corner of the desert. All the palaces will start with an ironknuckle statue at the beginning. Go down the elevator and go left all the way to get a key. You slash the item to get it. Go to the elevator. Go right until you come across some elevators. Go to the one on the right. Go up it and head right until you come across a key and get it. Go back to the place with a fairy in the corner. Keep going left until you get to an elevator that can only go down. By the way, have you come across one of these guys?
The good ol’ fashion jump slash will kill them with ease. They are called ironknuckles. So anyway, go down the elevator that can only go down. Go left until you find a locked door, unlock it and go get the dungeon item, the candle. Now you can see in dark caves. go to the place with the fairy and go down the elevator that can go up and down. Here is your dungeon boss: the Horsehead.
The horsehead is very easy. All you do is jump and slash his head. Equip the shield spell! It will help you out. When you are done with the horsehead, he will give you 50 experience points. Slash the key and go right. You will find an altar like thing and Link will put a crystal in the hole. You will get a free level up and your life and magic will be restored when you install the crystal in its place. Only 5 more crystals to go.
Now, most of our adventures to the palace will start from the starting point at North Castle. We will go back to north castle and go to the south cave from North Castle. Go through the cave and you will find a magic container at the end of the cave. Get out of the cave and go to the pink desert area with a cave in the middle of it. At the end of this cave is a trophy. We need it to see the next wise man. Go into the cave and go through the cave and get the trophy at the end of it. Go out of the cave and go to the town at the top left corner. This is the Town of Ruto. You can walk around for a while and heal up if you want to. Talk to the lady in red that is by her greenish brown house. Show her the trophy and get into the house. Go to the basement and the wizard will give you the jump spell. You need this for high ledges. Get out of town and go directly south of the town to find a cave that will lead to the Midoro Swamp. The swamp part is a light-dark green. Go to the swamp area near the boulder blocking the cave. There is a Link Doll over there. Otherwise known as an extra life. Sweet. Go south to the bridge. Cross it and go to the town on the left. This is the Water Town of Saria. In the 2nd section of this town you will find a house with no door. Go in it and nobody is home. 😉 There is a mirror under the table. You have to go in front of the table and slash it to find the mirror. There is a lady in purple in front of her house and she lost her mirror. =) Give the mirror to her and go in the house. The wizard in the basement will give you the life spell. It cost A LOT of magic, so only use it in emergencies. Get out of town and go into the woods and look all over the place for a house. In the house is a man named Bagu. He will give you a pass to cross the river. In the lone wood area is another points bag. Go snag it and head back to Saria. Go to the 3rd section of town and go into the house with no door. The river guard is there and if you show him the pass he will let you pass. A bridge will appear out of nowhere letting you cross. I have no idea how that’s possible. . . but ok. Go into the first cave you see. This is Death Mountain! Don’t worry, Ganon’s castle was destroyed so you can’t go in there. Go to the right cave. In the caves are the WORST (not worse than ironknuckles) enemies yet! Dairas. They are little devils that either hit you with an ax or throw the ax at you, depending on the color. Once you are out, go to the right cave. Go through that and go to the right cave. Go through that and go through the right cave. Go through the cave to the right. You are probably guessing right cave? No! We are going through the left cave. Once out go through the left cave. Once out go through the south cave. Once out go through the right cave. Now we are done with the maze, now there is a little hole in the middle of an area with a boulder next to it. Go in the hole and go through it. At the end of it is the hammer. Now we can break rocks with the push of a button. Hammer the boulder next to the hole and walk on that square. You just fell in a hole to your next magic container. Go right into the small cave. Walk down to get the link doll. Break the boulder by the cave in the swamp. At the end of the cave is the Water of Life. Go right to the Harbor Town of Mido. There is a church-like building here. Use the jump spell to get onto the balcony and into the door. Go into the basement to find another wizard. WHAT?! Who is this guy and what did he do to the wizard? Just kidding. He teaches you the downward thrust. Get out of the house and go to the old lady in purple that comes out of her house. Give her the Water of Life. Go into the house to find the wizard. He will give you the fairy spell. It turns you into a fairy and you can reach ledges you couldn’t reach with the jump spell. Once out of town you need to follow the path west and hammer the boulder. Follow the path upward and you will be in between 2 caves. The one on the right gives you a heart container. The one on the left gives you a points bag. Why not go snag both of those? After you get them, go back to the swamp and head left into the opening to the palace. Go all the way down the elevator and go right all the way to find yourself a key. There are many enemies you can kill by just jumping and using the downward thrust. Go up the elevator to get a points bag. Go all the way left to get another key. Go up the elevator and go left to find another elevator. Go down the elevator and head left all the way to get the Handy Glove. This will help us destroy the weak brick-like blocks. Go back to the elevator and head down the elevator. Go left and head down the elevator. Head left to get another key. Go down the other elevator and head all the way left to meet up with: Helmethead
He is defeated the same way horsehead is defeated. Just constantly attack his head with the shield spell up. Once he dies he will give you 200 experience points. Get the key and head right to place the crystal. Only 4 more palaces to go. =)
Head to the graveyard you saw before and go to the grave in the very center of the graveyard. That is King’s Tomb. Go directly south of king’s tomb and eventually you’ll fall down a hole. This is a cave to the Island palace. When you get out of the cave, head to the palace to start your 3rd dungeon. As usual, head down the elevator. Head right and get the key. There will be times where you will need to use the downward thrust to get a key. Head down the elevator. Go right all the way to get a key. Head right some more and you will find yourself a raft. YAY! Now we can cross the ocean. Go left all the way. You should come across a key. Use the downward thrust to get it. Head right and go down the elevator. Go right and get the point bag at the ledge. Use the downward thrust on the right side of the blocks to get a point bag. Head right to meet up with one of the enemies you have seen throughout this dungeon. It is now the boss: Blue Ironknuckle.
Use the downward thrust to knock the ironknuckle off his horse. When he’s knocked off you can fight him like any ironknuckle. Use the shield spell. It is HIGHLY recommended. Snag the key and head right and put the crystal in its place. We’re only halfway there.
Go sail to eastern Hyrule on our new and improved raft. Go to the lone square for a points bag. Go to the cave on the bottom right and get the point bag. Head up from there to get to the Town of Nabooru. At the beginning of the 2nd section of town, there is a lady in a red dress who comes out of her house thirsty. Now I wish we had the water of life now. =( Go past her house to the white drinking fountain-like thing. Press the button to get some water. The lady is too lazy to get the water herself? Give the lady her water and go in the house to another wizard and he will give you the fire spell. Get out of town and go to the cave above Nabooru. Go through and you will need to go right once you’re out. Go to the desert area south of the forest to get a Link Doll. Go on the bridge and you will appear on maze island. This is where the Maze Palace is, but 1st, we need to run a few errands.
Go to the upper right bridge and cross it. Follow the path left, up, and down to find yourself a magic container. Backtrack and cross the upper right bridge to get back to where you were before. Navigate the path down, left, down, up, right, down, up, and right to find a cave where the lost child is. Looks like somebody was out exploring Hyrule not knowing about the monsters. Wait, wasn’t that us in the previous game? Once you get the lost child, get off of Maze Island and head to the town in the desert area in the top left corner. Welcome to the Mountain Town of Darunia. When you come across a house with no windows and a chimney, jump up on the house and if you have played Super Mario Bros. it is the same buttons and such to go down a pipe. So, go down the chimney and head to the basement to find a knight. (note: if you haven’t played SMB then you press down to go down the chimney). The knight will give you the upward thrust. Get out of the house and go to the first house you see of the last section of town. Talk to the old lady in purple and she will thank you for saving her child. She will let you in her house and there is another wizard in there and he will give you the reflect spell. This will be helpful when you meet up with the wizzrobes in the Maze Palace. Go back to Maze Island and cross the upper right bridge and follow the path really carefully. Use the map at the top to navigate your way through this maze. Once you are done, go into Maze Palace. After you go down the elevator, head right, get the points bag, and head down the elevator. Head right and jump across the gap while using the jump spell. Head to the end of the right section and grab the key while jumping over the lava. Backtrack to the room with the gap and go down the gap. Go right all the way and you’ll get the boots that can let you walk on water and lava. Head left and jump down the gap. Go to the right and get the key at the end. There are some enemies that you can kill while using the upward thrust. Head left all the way and get the key. Backtrack to the room with the gap and go down it. Go above the key and use the downward thrust to get it. Head right until you reach an elevator and head up the elevator until you can’t go up the elevator any longer. Head left all the way and use the upward thrust to destroy the blocks above you. Get the key, and head left some more to find a points bag and a key. Go back to the elevator you just saw and head down the elevator. After you head down the elevator, head right. Go back to the elevator and head right this time. Go down the elevator at the end and head right to fight: Carock
The reflect spell is required to fight Carock. He is invincible so you can only kill him with his own magic. Use the shield spell in case you want to try and slash him. Just simply hide in the corner and reflect his magic against him. Once he dies, get the key and head right to install the crystal. Only 2 more palaces to go.
Since you can now walk on water. Get off of Maze Island and head directly right of Nabooru. Follow the path on the water and don’t go to the palace just yet. There is a heart container in the middle of the ocean. Go get it and head to the desert area to the south. When you get there walk around for a little bit and you will find a points bag. Head back on the water and go to the Ocean Palace. Go down the elevator and head right and get the key while using the fairy spell to get up there. Go left and get the key and go left. Unlock the door and go down the elevator. Go left and use the upward thrust to get the points bag. Climb up the falling blocks to get to the key. Keep heading left and go down the first elevator you see. Take the left passage and jump on top of the platform above the elevator and get the points bag. Head down that particular elevator and go left to get the points bag. Run back to the elevator and take the right path. Get the key and keep heading right until you find a dead end. . . . I don’t think that’s a dead end. It’s formerly a false wall. Jump through the false wall and go down the first elevator you see. Head left and kill anything in sight. You will come across a blue and orange ironknuckle. Kill them and go through the locked door to find your flute. Backtrack all the way to the elevator and head up the elevator. Head right until you see an elevator. Head up the elevator and head left until you find a key. Backtrack through the false wall and go up the first elevator you see that’s west of the false wall. Head right after going down the elevator and go get your key. Head left and through the locked door. Head right to get a points bag. Go get the key and go to the elevator. Head all the way up the elevator and head right. This boss is the hardest one next to the final one: Gooma
He is HARD! What you have to do is slash him without getting hit. Well you can try. The shield and jump spell are HIGHLY recommended when fighting him. Once he dies, take the key and head right. Place the crystal and head out. Only one left.
Head south of Nabooru and play your flute for the river devil to make him disappear. Follow the path and head to the swampy area to find a Link Doll and a cave with a points bag. Head into the forest and head south of the cave to find another points bag. Head south and walk in the shoreline area to find your last heart container. The Hidden Palace is also in this area, but we have some errands to run. Enter the cave above the place where you got the points bag and at the end, hammer one of the forest squares to find. . . a town? This is the Hidden Town of Kasuto. The people had to flee for some reason and made camp here. There’s an old lady in purple that is by her house. Talk to her to get into her house. Your probably hoping for a wizard right? WRONG! The basement actually holds your last magic container. The wizard is in one of the house with open doors. This wizard will give you the spell spell. There is also one more item here that we need to get. At the far end of town, now would be a good time to test out our new spell spell. Use it and a house with a long door will come out of the ground. In the basement is. . . . . . THE MAGICAL KEY! It’s back and looking awesome. It works the same way the magical key in the previous game. If you haven’t played it, this key is reusable and can open any door you can think of. Go back to the desert area and play your flute in the center of the three rocks you see. There’s the hidden palace right there. The blue ironknuckle on a flying horse will appear about 2 or 3 times in this palace. The real boss is a dragon worm thing. After the elevator take the left hallway and go claim your points bag. There is also a points bag on the right path. We also needed the magical key because there are no keys in this palace. Go down the elevator and head through the locked door. Keep heading right. There are invisible pits in this palace and I would recommend using the jump spell for jumping over them. When you get to some place with blocks, use the downward thrust to get the points bag. You will come across a room with 4 ironknuckle statues and a wall. After the 3rd statue, there is an invisible pit. Jump over it with the jump spell and break the wall and unlock the door after you fight the blue ironknuckle with a horse. After you unlock the door, you will find your last item, the cross. This will help you see invisible enemies lurking about. Go left after you get the cross and don’t think about using the jump spell to cross that invisible gap. Fall down it this time. Go right to get a points bag. Head left and go up the elevator. Go left and fall down the hole onto a disappearing bridge. Go left and head all the way left to get a points bag. Fall down the hole 2 times in a row and head left to grab a points bag. Go down 3 more times and go through the door on the right side. Use the jump spell and head right. You will come across a huge lava gap. Use the fairy spell to get across. Go down the elevator and go left. You will find a points bag. Go back to the elevator and take the right path. Go across the bridge with the jump spell and you will find a Link Doll. Go down the hole and use the fairy spell to cross the gap to the boss: Barba
All you have to do is use the shield and jump spells and you will be just fine. You have to jump up and slash his head. By the time he dies, grab the key and head right. Install the last crystal in its place. Now, we can go to the Great Palace and get the Triforce of Courage. =)
We have to run some errands before we go to the Great Palace. First of all, head left of the Hidden Palace and cross the bridge to find a town. This is Kasuto. There is only one person brave enough to stay in Kasuto. Go into the first house you see and go into the basement to find your last wizard. He will give you the thunder spell. This spell is required for fighting the 2nd to last boss. Go to the graveyard and follow the reddish-brown path so you can get to the Great Palace. There is a red potion hidden here along with a points bag. Go left, up and left to find your points bag. Go up and right to find a cave you need to pass through. After the cave go down and left to the cave that will lead you to the Great Palace. Are you ready? You’re going to need a lot of magic and life to get past this palace. At the entrance is a big forcefield. It’s there, because if you even tried to get in without beating all those palaces, you would touch and it would instantly kill you. Go left after you head down the elevator. There’s a fake floor here and you need to jump over it. The fake floor is after the pillar you see below. Go down the elevator and head right. When you are almost down the elevator at the end, head left. This is a fake wall. This will lead you to a red potion. Go back on the elevator and head down it and go right. Use the downward thrust with caution to get that fairy. Go left and you will find your last Link Doll. Go back to the elevator and go down. Head left until you reach a room with blocks on the floor. Underneath the 5th and 6th block is and invisible gap. Use the downward thrust to get to that particular place. Go right when you land. Use the upward thrust when you’re under a large hole. There are giant bots up there so be careful. When you make it to the disappearing bridge, go on the bridge and keep moving until you get to a hole in the lava. Fall into the hole. Head right to find the 2nd to last boss: Thunderbird
This requires the thunder spell. I recommend the shield spell and the jump spell for this boss battle. Use the thunder spell as soon as he comes in. This will make thunderbird turn blue and that is the perfect time to slash his face. When he dies get the key and head on to the next room to find. . . .
Yes, you made it to the triforce of courage only to find. . . .
This is the final boss: Dark Link. He is Link’s evil twin. Whip out your shield spell. You can either fight him normally, or you can sit in the corner, duck down and slash him. When Dark Link is history, the guy will give you the triforce of courage. Enjoy the ending of the most complicated zelda game in history.
Special thanks to zeldadungeon.net for helping me beat this game and for inspiring me to make this website. Thanks to google.com/images for helping me get the pictures for this. A very special thanks to Nintendo for making The Legend of Zelda games.
